QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
Decorated with archaistic motifs repeated on each facet, including taotie masks on the foot, middle section and base of the neck below tall upright blades surrounded by lotus scroll, with key-fret borders at the rims and further key-fret decorating the notched flanges at the corners

Lot Essay

A similar, though slightly smaller (35.6 cm.) cloisonné enamel gu-form vase was sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 29 April 2002, lot 729. Compare, also, a similar, but larger, vase, illustrated by H. Brinker and A. Lutz, Chinese Cloisonné: The Pierre Uldry Collection, New York, 1989, no. 178.
