8o (220 x 142 mm). Illustrated with 41 steel engraved plates by Alfred Crowquill and John Phillips; 33 woodcuts by Bonner in text (some darkening and offsetting to plates). Original blind-stamped dark green cloth (minor wear to extremities; front hinge cracked).

FIRST EDITION, with 8 pp. advertisements at the front dated 1843. This "Boz" imitation was written by the popular novelist, editor, radical journalist and Chartist leader, G.W.M. Reynolds (1814-1879). He is best known for his Mysteries of London, and English imitation of Eugène Sue's Mysteries of Paris. Here he takes Pickwick on a grand tour of the continent. Sadleir 2038.
