Lot Essay
The present, apparently unrecorded print belongs to a group of etchings by Fantuzzi related to the so-called Frieze of Sigismond in the Palazzo del Té at Mantua, which was designed by Giulio Romano and executed as a stucco frieze by Primaticcio. Zerner records eight etchings from this series by Fantuzzi, all of which are exceedingly rare.
