Lot Essay

Louis Marcoussis distinguished himself as a painter and a graphic artist. Here, in 'Pain Breton, deux poissons, cuiller', we see his cubist style from 1929, notable for its geometric forms. As well as painting images of the Breton seaside, he produced still lifes, portraits and views of Paris in the years before 1930. This work is typical of his style of this period.
