Bunnell, photo historian and scholar of American photography (presentation inscription from Evans; stamp).

FIRST EDITION OF EVANS'S MASTERPIECE. PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY EVANS TO PETER BUNNELL: "Peter Bunnell from Walker Evans cordially". It is an excellent association: Bunnell's career at MoMA was bracketed by Walker Evans exhibitions: 'Subway' in 1966, and the 1971 retrospective. "A great work of art", which "HOLDS A WELL DESERVED PLACE AT THE TOP OF THE PANTHEON" (The Photobook). RARE INSCRIBED: according to American Book Prices Current, only 3 inscribed copies have sold at auction since 1975.
