Original yellow boards, front cover lettered in gray, original color photo-illustrated dust jacket (very minor wear at head of spine panel, spine panel lightly faded); remnants of bellyband laid-in; original printed card slipcase (some minor wear); black cloth folding case. Provenance: Peter Bunnell, photo historian and scholar of American photography (inscription from Hosoe on title-page; ownership stamp).

FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY HOSOE TO PETER BUNNELL: "To Peter Bunnell, from one artist to another. Dec. 1, 1984 Tokyo. Eikoh Hosoe." An excellent association: Bunnell, as curator of photography at the Princeton Art Museum, built what is now the finest collection of Japanese photography in the United States. Man and Woman is "characterized by Hosoe's elegant and precise sense of form" (The Photobook). The Photobook, vol. I, p.279.
