The rounded rectangular crossbanded top above two mahogany-lined frieze drawers on one side and two simulated drawers on the reverse, on panelled end-supports joined by a turned stretcher, on scrolled plinths with sunk castors

Lot Essay

George Bullock was known for his sophisticated use of native timbers, in particular oak which he often combined with exotic veneers such as rosewood, mahogany, zebra wood and goncalo alves, seen on this table. The writing table's simple but practical design meant that it could be easily moved around the room for decoration and use, an important quality of Regency furnishings.
