The carved horn panel depicting a hazel leaf, centering upon two chestnuts with textured gold sculptural leaves and stem, to the horn comb, circa 1900, 6¼ x 3¾ ins.

In the late nineteenth century, there was a trend toward seasonal jewelry. Lalique handled the seasons deftly: lillies of the valley for May, wisteria for spring, a winter landscape for December and chestnuts for the first hint of autumn.
