A ROMAN MARBLE FRAGMENT OF A FOOT
CIRCA 1ST CENTURY A.D.
Depicting the lower part of a left foot, with detailed toes, on integral base, remains of iron tang attachments; and a Roman marble Mithraic Tauroctonus relief fragment, with the figure of Cautopates (Night) holding his symbolic torch, wearing a Phrygian cap and short girdled tunic, above is the bust of Sol, the cloak of Mithras billowing out with a bird perched above, on the ground is the hind foot of the bull and a snake's tail, 2nd-3rd Century A.D.
