2 volumes, 4° (260 x 208mm.), 4 engraved folding maps, numerous vignette illustrations, mostly hand-coloured, and 51 stipple-engraved and aquatint plates, most coloured by hand, many folding. Contemporay diced russia, covers with a greek-key gilt border, flat gilt spines with black morocco lettering-pieces and FFF stamp at foot (joints and extremities rubbed, spines and boards slightly faded). Provenance: Francis Ferrand Foljambe (binding).
FIRST ENGLISH EDITION. Tooley 357 states: 'An extremely charming colour plate book ... It deserves a place in every colour plate collection for its numerous attractive coloured vignettes, an unusual feature.
