Lot Essay

Accompanied by Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with yellow gold bracelet in 1972 and its subsequent sale on 6 August 1974. Furthermore delivered with black leather presentation box stamped Patek Philippe Genève and Gobbi.

This watch is thought to be one of only four examples of reference 4120/1 to appear in public to date.

The so-called "gold chip" motifs on the bracelet panels of this watch are consisting of fine chips, produced when chasing gold while decorating a case for instance. The chips are then sprinkled out in the desired shape and fixated onto the surface. These hand-made symbols vary from one watch to another and consequently, each of these reference 4120/1 models is unique.

Reference 4120/1, an epitome of 1970s design, was in production during a short period in the early 1970s and made in exceedingly small numbers.
