Lot Essay

The case of the present watch is stamped with casemaker's initials L.W., most probably for Louis Weill. Active at Hatton Garden in London and in La-Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, Louis Weill and his partners H. Harburg and Charles Feis, are listed as wholesale and export watch manufacturers (see The Directory of Gold and Silversmiths by John Culme, Vol. I, p. 474).
