Decorated in gold, silver and black hiramaki-e and inlaid in mother-of-pearl and ivory, the kanagu [fittings] copper-gilt engraved, the back with plantain

Provenance
Acquired by Sir John Gladstone, 3rd Baronet, (1852-1926) on a visit to Japan, circa 1890.
