Lot Essay

This bronzed plaster bust appears to be a cast of Albert Bruce-Joy's successful bronze memorial statute to Gladstone in St. Mary's Churchyard, Bow, London, commissioned by Theodore H. Bryant and unveiled on 9 August 1882 by The Rt. Hon. Lord Charlingford.
