Lot Essay

Exhibited in wax at the 1848 Salon, and again in bronze two years later, Chasse à la perdrix is one of Mêne's most popular dog groups. Cast in several large editions during the third quarter of the 19th century, the group features Sylphie, the setter, and Tac, the pointer, both of which appear as separate subjects in their own right.
