How to sell

A SET OF FOUR WALNUT AND BURR WALNUT ARMCHAIRS
OF GEORGE II STYLE, LATE 19TH EARLY 20TH CENTURY, ATTRIBUTABLE TO WARING & GILLOW
Each with a shaped and moulded back, shepherd's crook arms and an oval padded drop-in seat on foliate shell and C-scroll carved cabriole legs with claw and ball feet, two stamped '514' and two stamped '1827' (4)

Specialist note

The pattern for these chairs was published in Gillows Estimate Sketch Book, dated 1827.
Waring and Gillow Ltd continued to source designs from Gillows earlier sketch books as noted by Susan Stuart, A Survey of marks, labels, and stamps used on Gillow and Waring & Gillow furniture 1770 - 1960, Regional Furniture, 1998, vol XXI.
However the fact that two chairs bear the stamp 1827 may be mere coincidence.
