A GERMAN FAYENCE BLUE AND WHITE PEWTER-MOUNTED JUG (ENGELHALSKRUG)
CIRCA 1720, NUREMBERG
Spirally-fluted, with ribbed neck and rope-twist handle, painted with birds above an urn issuing fruit, between roundels of peacocks edged with leaves, on a ground of trailing foliage between circles, the neck with flowers and foliage, the hinged cover with ball thumb-piece, incised with the initials ·I·C·R·
