AN ENAMELLED TERRACOTTA CHALICE FROM THE 'IL SESTANTE' COLLECTION BY ETTORE SOTTSASS FOR BITOSSI, FLORENCE, 1959

Ettore Sottsass initiated an exclusive ten-year collaboration with the Galleria Il Sestante, founded in Milan in October 1958 by Marisa Scarzella and Lina Matteucci supported by the studio of the architect Alberto Scarzella. The January 1960 catalogue includes twenty-seven enamels on copper and a selection of nineteen ceramics produced in Montelupo Fiorentino, shown between design drawings by Ettore Sottsass from 1955 onwards. The present model was part of this series

Ettore Sottsass signe un accord de collaboration exclusive pendant dix ans avec la Galleria Il Sestante, fondée à Milan en octobre 1958 par Marisa Scarzella et Lina Matteuci, également soutenue par l'atelier de l'architecte Alberto Sarzella. Le catalogue de janvier 1960 présente vingt sept émaux sur cuivre et une sélection de dix-neuf céramiques, réalisés à Montelupo Fiorentino et exposés avec des dessins d'Ettore Sottsass à partir de 1955.
