An ivory okimono of a farmer, signed, Meiji Period (1868-1912)
finely carved and detailed, he carries a bag over his shoulder, a bamboo root inro hangs from his obi with a kiku shaped netsuke as he stands inspecting rice from his crop that he holds in his left hand, a bamboo tool in the other, a wood box containing rice and a straw matt lay at his feet, signed Yoshida and sealed to the base -- 8¾in. (22.3cm.) high.
