Momoyama Period (late 16th century)
A rare, unrecorded, hinged box and cover, with long handle, decorated in gold hiramaki-e, nashiji and inlaid in mother of pearl on a black ground with dragons and mon framed by various geometric designs, engraved copper gilt cord fittings, the interior lined in green silk and silver brocade and fitted as a portable knife box
