Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1797-1861)
Mongaku Shonin (Endo Morito 1120 -1199) under the Nachi waterfall, performing penance for the accidental murder of his lover Kesa Gozen, is encouraged to persevere by the Buddhist deity Fudo Myoo [the guardian of waterfalls] with his flaming sword, and his doji [acolytes] Kongara and Seitaka, signed Ichiyusai Kuniyoshi ga, kiri seal, published by Sumiyoshiya Masagoro, censors' seals Kinugasa and Murata, very good impression with the extra colour block for the foam, good colours and condition
