A GREEK BRONZE HELMET OF ILLYRIAN TYPE
ARCHAIC PERIOD, CIRCA 6TH CENTURY B.C.
Of hammered sheet, with a wide flaring neck-guard, two raised parallel ridges running front to back across the crown, a button pin between the ridges at the front, with a stylized incised bud above the pin trailed by three grooves crossing the center of the crown to a partially-preserved pin at the back, the pins for attachment of a crest, the perimeter offset with a groove, bordered with incised circles, tongues above the brow, each cheek-guard perforated at the forward tip within the border
