[GALILEI, Galileo (1564-1642)]. Letter signed by Antonio del Turco, goldsmith, to Sig. Alessandro Caccini, [Florence], 10 August 1631, requesting a pension for a superannuated workman and enclosing biannual accounts LISTING GALILEO AMONGST THE DEBTORS, 6 pages, folio, plus blanks, integral address leaf (heavy waterstaining, without loss of legibility).
Galileo's is the first name on the list of debtors, up to the date 11 July 1631: his debt, for [?scudi] 26-12-8 is relatively modest, compared for example with the 300 scudi owed by the Grand Duke (Ferdinand II).
[with] Letter written on behalf of Grand Duke Leopold II to Francesco Riccardi-Vernaccia, n.p., 3 November 1841, thanking him for the gift of Galileo's Il Saggiatore and giving an ornate tobacco box in return, one page, folio. (2)
