Included in the lot is a one-page t.l.s., on Chartwell-headed paper (but with typed address "28, Hyde Park Gate"), reading, "Dear Mr Dean, It was good of you to write during my brief visit to Blackpool and I was disappointed I could not fit in a time to see you while I was there. I hope however that an opportunity may be found of meeting you again some time. Pray accept the enclosed copy of MY EARLY LIFE which I have inscribed for you, with my best wishes and thanks for contacting me after all these years. Yours v. t., W. S. Churchill." Bert Dean was Churchill's "batman" (ie. an officer's servant) during World War I. (2)
