Numerous woodcut illustrations, including diagrammatic world maps and scientific diagrams, woodcut decorative and historiated initials, large woodcut device at end. (Small wormholes, those in the title-page filled, some spotting and staining.) 18th-century Italian vellum over pasteboard, flat spine lettered and tooled in gilt, blue and red speckled edges (lightly rubbed, a little wear at spine ends). Provenance: early annotations (some trimmed).
