Publisher's original blue cloth, spine and upper side lettered in gilt, publisher's device in blind on lower side, original light green dust-jacket printed in blue (dust-jacket worn and chipped at extremities, dampstain at foot of spine-panel, rear flap detached but present, some tears). Provenance: Louise Burrows. FIRST EDITION, IN THE RARE DUST-JACKET, OF LAWRENCE'S FIRST COLLECTION OF SHORT STORIES. Edward Garnet, who saw the work through the press, changed the title from Honour and Arms to The Prussian Officer, to Lawrence's great displeasure. Roberts A6, variant 1 (with 20 pp. of ads).

Publisher's blue cloth, spine gilt, upper cover lettered in blind, bottom edge rough-trimmed (light wear). FIRST EDITION. LOUISE BURROWS'S COPY. Burrows was the inspiration for the character of Ursula. The book was judged obscene and of the 2500 copies printed approximately 1200 were seized and destroyed. Roberts A7a. (2)
