MAKER'S MARK FE FLEUR-DE-LIS AND CROWN ABOVE, CIRCA 1730
Tapering oblong, the base detachable as a cup, engraved with a band of ovolo, one side further engraved with a coat-of-arms, the other with a crest, with a detachable cover, marked under base and on bottom of cup with maker's mark only
5½ in. (14 cm.) high
6.7 oz. (209 gr.)
The arms are those of Hobson of Spalding, co. Lincoln, possibly for Christopher Hobson (d.1791), of Stirtloe, co. Huntingdon.

The maker's mark is recorded in A. Grimwade, London Goldsmiths 1697-1837, London, 1982 as no. 3567 from 'a spirit flask', perhaps the present example.
