A SUITE OF GEORGE III MAHOGANY SEAT-FURNITURE
IN THE MANNER OF THOMAS CHIPPENDALE, CIRCA 1775
Comprising a settee and eight armchairs, the settee with serpentine padded back and seat covered in pale-green and cream silk, with reeded curving downswept arms, above a fluted frontrail divided by carved sunflower paterae, on turned tapering fluted legs headed by acanthus, on turned reeded stump feet, previously with caps; the armchairs conformingly carved, seven covered in pale green and rose silk, one with goldenrod and rose silk, four reduced in height by 2½ inches, six incised 'E', with cramp-cuts and batten-carrying holes, one with paper label '46' and inscribed in chalk 'B w w l /'
The settee: 39 in. (99 cm.) high; 78 in. (190 cm.) wide; 23¼ in. (59 cm.) deep
