Johann Heinrich Moser, better known as Henry Moser, was born on 12 December 1805 in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. His father, Erhard (1760 - 1829) was a clockmaker and city councillor.

In the early 20th century, Moser was one of the main suppliers to the Russian market, notably to the Imperial Court and Carl Faberge.

To mark the bicentenary of Heinrich Moser's birth in 2005, the successor company Moser Schaffhausen AG, under the H. Moser & Cie brand, is once again launching a range of watches faithful to the legacy of the firm's original founder.
