Gypsy Sun and The Rainbows
An original color Polaroid photograph of Jimi Hendrix jamming at the Ashokan House with members of his short lived band Gypsy Sun and the Rainbows, in Ulster County, NY during the Summer of '69, in preparation for his appearance at Woodstock. Signed on the back of the photo mount with signatures including, Jimi Hendrix, Larry Lee, Billy Cox, JUMA and Gerardo Velez in blue ink. 4½x3½in.
Gypsy Sun and the Rainbows only performed live three times, the first being at Woodstock on August 18, 1969, the second at a street benefit in Harlem, and the final time at the Salvation Club in Greenwich Village. By September 6, 1969 the band had disbanded. The band consisted of Jimi Hendrix on lead guitar, Larry Lee on rhythm guitar, Billy Cox on bass, and Juma Sultan and Jerry Velez on drums.
