Painted with a sinuous dragon pursuing a flaming pearl among cloud scrolls above combed waves, the reverse with a rectangular panel containing the calligraphic inscription, the short neck with a band of pendant ruyi lappets, short crack to neck and some slight chipping to rim

Lot Essay

The inscription translates as 'Piously made by Li Zhongju of the Jing Li (Personel?) Department, Raozhou Prefecture, Jiangxi Province. A pair of candlesticks to be offered to the God of the Stove of the Huaxian City. On an auspicious day in the Autumn month, 36th year of the Kangxi reign'.
