A congenial and amusing letter typed and annotated by John Lennon and sent to close Beatles associate Derek Taylor in 1975, the letter on Lennon Music, 1370 Avenue Of The Americas, New York... headed stationery, the Lennon of the letterhead underlined in red crayon and preceded by the name John in Lennon's hand, with additional typed address: I West 72nd st. apt:72. n.y.n.y.10023. and date given as hot tuna 75:, the opening banter of the letter in New York hip slang sets its tone: ...Whasssermarrawitchiz? Too buzy? fergitit!, written at the beginning of his 'househusband' period John hints at his boredom with his current working life: ..I meself have decided to be or not to be for a couple of years? Boredom set in...Am thinking of becoming a magician. more scope!..If you want any hexs liftinng [sic] or placing send me a photo of a dead dog... John's cynicism presides throughout the letter and is initially evident when recounting a story regarding his sisters: ...My sisters...got on [sic] touch...said they'd been to Apple a few years back and no-one would let them in..."He's an only child" said a freindly (sic) beatnik kicking them out the door!...life goes on...as my family gradually dies off...new ones are born... His wicked humour prevails: Mals [Evans'] releasing his diary...Tues: 1965: "got up loaded van"..should be a laugh. He's died [sic] his hair and reveals his chest to anyone!, ending on a deeply cynical note: Foerd [sic] [Gerald R. Ford, President of the United States, 1974-1977] told us the re/de/pression is over...they can all starve happily now. It's a fab world... John signs off in typescript dr.w.etc..... [Winston O'Boogie] the reverse of the letter inscribed in blue ink and black ballpoint pen with a small 'aide-memoire' list in an unidentified hand, possibly Taylor's, 1p.
