Lot Essay

This appears to be a secondary version, probably painted in part by the artist's studio, of 'Morning on the Dee', Boddington's Royal Academy exhibit of 1860 (no. 519; sold at Sotheby's, London, 10 March, 2005). We are grateful to Michael Knowles for his help in the preparation of this catalogue entry.
