Finely embroidered on the front and back panels in couched gold-wrapped thread, satin stitch and Peking knot with nine five-clawed dragons in pursuit of flaming pearls, leaping amidst clouds interspersed with the eight Buddhist emblems (bajixiang), above a hem of roiling waves, within similarly decorated black silk borders and gold braid repeated on the horsehoof cuffs, with black corded sleeve extensions, all picked out in shades of blue, yellow, green and grey against a reddish-brown ground
