THE CLOISONNE 18TH CENTURY
Both panels with applied cloisonné elements on an ochre lacquer ground forming waterscapes, the first with a farmer bearing a bundle of wheat on his back as he traverses a narrow strip of land by a small bridge, with four quail amidst chrysanthemum and millet in the foreground, the second with a fisherman in a boat under a tree and beside a lush outcropping of bamboo, a small fish carved from amber beneath cloud-form waves, the foreground with a cockerel amidst ornamental rockwork and chrysanthemum blossoms, set in hardwood frames with brass hardware
