The wide ovoid body liberally splashed with bright amber, cream and green glaze that covers the short neck and continues over the out-turned rim, all on a white slip that falls irregularly towards the flat base exposing the pale pinkish-buff ware, the cover with spots of cream and green glaze reserved on an amber ground beneath the compressed globular pointed finial

Lot Essay

The successful application of the splashed glaze on this jar and cover is simiar to that seen on a jar and cover illustrated in Sekai toji zenzhu, vol. 9, Tokyo, 1955, pl. 67.

The result of Oxford Authentication Ltd. thermoluminescence test number P108u76 is consistent with the dating of this lot.
