The Cuvelier's have invested heavily in the estate, replanting and replacing Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon on the finest parcels, and building a new winery in the 1990s. Of the 80 hectares, currently 60 of the vines are Cabernet Sauvignon, 25 Merlot, 8 Petit Verdot and 2 Cabernet Franc. Due to the extensive replanting regime, the average age of the vines is relatively young at 20 years old. Michel Rolland has been advising Didier Cuvelier since 1994. The grapes are harvested as late as possible. Fermentation takes place in thirty-five, temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats ranging in size from 145 to 222 hectolitres. The temperatures can reach quite high. Skin-maceration is between 15 and 21 days. For the Grand Vin, about 30 of the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in barrel, with 75 new oak where it matures for between 18 and 20 months before being fined with egg whites. As Stephen Brook wrote in The Complete Bordeaux, "The overall result is a more opulent and hedonistic wine than the two other Léovilles". The property also has two other labels; Moulin Riche and Pavillon des Connétables which respectively are made with a higher proportion of Merlot in the former and from the youngest vines in the latter.
