This 126 hectare estate located in Saint-Laurent du Médoc has 70 hectares under vine and is planted with 53 Cabernet Sauvignon, 33 Merlot, 10 Cabernet Franc and 4 Petit Verdot. The vineyards are situated on clay soils with asteriated limestone and a thick layer of Guntz glacial deposits. The grapes are hand-harvested and then partially destemmed before being put into eighteen 70 hectolitre wooden vats which are equipped with coils for temperature-control. The wine is aged in 65 new oak barriques for around 18 months. Some rare dry white Bordeaux has also been produced since 2003 from 0.85 hectares of white vines of which 62 are Sauvignon Blanc, 33 Sémillon and 5 Muscadelle.

Château La Tour-Carnet--Vintage 2000
Saint-Laurent (Haut-Médoc), 4me cru classé
Tasting Note: The dense purple-coloured 2000 boasts a sweet nose of graphite intermixed with cassis, liquorice, and toasty espresso notes. As the wine sat in the glass, floral notes also emerged. Heady, ripe, and medium to full-bodied, it is the finest La Tour-Carnet produced in many decades. Robert Parker, Wine Advocate 146, April 2003.
