in an Italian late 16th century carved, gilded and painted frame, with gadrooned outer edge; the recessed central plate with scrolling foliage and putti making music in high relief on brown ground, running to acanthus-leaf corners; torus with imbricated fruit and leaves at inner edge; sight edge with stylised foliate motif
