Details
Emil Nolde (1867-1956)
Freihafen Hamburg (Schiefler & Mosel 35)
woodcut, 1910, on fibrous tan wove, signed in pencil, titled in pencil by Ada Nolde at the lower sheet edge, a lively, hand-printed impression, printing with much wood grain and strong relief verso, apparently an impression of Schiefler's first state (of two; Schiefler only records one impression of this state and 12 of the second state), before the block was planed, but erroneously numbered II.9 (implying that it is the ninth impression of the second, final state), with margins, a deckle edge below, some finger marks in black ink in the upper right margin, with an inscription in pencil by Florian Karsch discussing the state of the print verso, generally in very good condition
B. 298 x 396 mm., S. 370 x 428 mm.
