Lot Essay

It is no wonder that America's traveling songster Woody Guthrie is associated with the mahogany topped style 15s and 17s made by Martin. Their affordability made them the perfect choice for the workingman's guitar starting in 1922. Their ability to withstand the hard working, rough and tumble lifestyle Guthrie experienced made it the perfect fit. When deciding to produce the Woody Guthrie Signature Model, Martin's Dick Boak along with Arlo Guthrie and sister Nora decided the spruce topped style OOO-18 would serve as a more fitting tribute. Issued in 1999, a limited edition of 140 of these guitars were produced.
