A SOUTH ARABIAN ALABASTER AND LIMESTONE STELE

The alabaster shaft with concave top, set into a rectangular limestone base with traces of red pigment on three sides, the front with two line inscription, 7¼ in. (18.5 cm.) high; a South Arabian terracotta votive head, with long slit-like eyes, large hooked nose, open mouth and dimpled chin, mounted, 7th-4th Century B.C., 4 in. (10 cm.) high; a South Arabian limestone seated figure, probably 7th-6th Century B.C., 9½ in. (24 cm.) high; and a Western Asiatic grey diorite hemispherical bowl, 3rd millennium B.C., 4 1/8 in. (10.5 cm.) diam. (4)

Property from the deceasd estate of a British administrator, Aden, acquired between 1952-1966.
