A large pair of Samson famille rose ovoid jars and covers,
Decorated on the sides with two shaped panels of peony and finger citrus between smaller fan- and scroll-shaped panels of vine a dahlia's, all reserved on a black ground painted with a meander of scrolling chrysanthemum, below a diaper-pattern band round the sloping shoulders reserved with four floral cartouches, partly repeated on the domed cover applied with knop finial, the base with ribboned artemesia leaf in iron-red (one cover with inner crack)
