Lot Essay

Large spherical glass beads with mosaic glass decoration and also trailed decoration were found in Fustat, suggesting a 9th century date (George T. Scanlon and Ralph Pinder-Wilson, Fustat Glass of the Early Islamic Period, London, 2001, nos.47c, f and g, pp.118-122 and col.pl.iv).
