Of square form, the white ground painted in blue, green, bole-red and turquoise with a central red arabesque containing a vine with flowerheads highlighted in green and blue, blue palmettes and rosettes and green saz leaves on either side against a ground of delicate scroll, a number of minor chips around the edges, one side with crack resulting in loss of glaze
11 1/8 x 11 1/8in. (28.4 x 28.4cm.)

Lot Essay

A panel of similar tiles is in the Victoria and Albert Museum (no. C2005-1910; Gönül Öney, Turkish Tile Art, Istanbul, 1976, p.77). A further example of this design was sold in these Rooms, 27 April 2004, lot 237.
