Lot Essay

Solon's Illustrated Journal records this vase as one of a pair completed between the 11th of June and the 11th of July 1881. Solon visits the subject of Love being swept away through-out his career, but seldom with as gentle a touch as depicted here on the 'Orchid' vase.
