A FINE WHITE JADE ARCHAISTIC VESSEL AND COVER, GUI
QIANLONG (1736-95)
The compressed globular body well carved in low relief with four sets of taotie masks, flanked by a pair of mythical beast handles and raised on a short flaring circular foot, the domed cover similarly decorated with archaistic motifs and surmounted by an everted circular finial encircled by lotus lappets, the stone of a creamy white tone with areas of opaque inclusions
