Lot Essay

Accompanied by Patek Philippe presentation box and certificate.

Patek Philippe's calibre 240 Q is the most magnificent example of the manufacturer's fluent style and technical skills. Comprising 275 miniscule parts, this compact marvel is incredibly thin due in part to the integrated off-centred 22k gold minirotor.

This superb calibre powers a number of references, from a simple "Calatrava" to the extraordinary Celestial, the perpetual calendars are of no exceptions.

Reference 3940, launched in 1985 to replace reference 3450, is one of Patek Philippe's longest production models. Spanning over three decades, an estimated 7,000 examples left the workshops in Geneva. Available in all precious metals, with very similar dial configurations, this reference is generally divided into three series with differences in the hour markers and subdials.
