Lot Essay

At Jupiter's command the beautiful Endymion was thrown into an eternal sleep in return for being granted perpetual youth. Diana visited the sleeping Endymion at night, and it is here that Rocca depicts the goddess, cradled within a crescent moon, watching the languorous figure bathed in light below.
