Lot Essay

After the original in Winslow Hall, Buckinghamshire. A possible studio copy (63.5 x 83.58 cm.) was with the Collection C. Zilva, London (for both see W. Robinson, The Willem van de Veldes, Greenwich, 1990, II, pp. 748-51, no. 300). The Zilva picture could possibly be identical to the current lot.
